Abu Azmi

 

Abu Azmi, born on 8 August 1955 in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, is a prominent Indian politician affiliated with the Samajwadi Party. Over the years, Abu Azmi has established himself as a significant figure in Maharashtra's political landscape, particularly in Mumbai's Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar constituency.In 1995, Abu Azmi ventured into politics, leading the Samajwadi Party to secure two seats in the Maharashtra State Assembly. His leadership during this period marked the beginning of his enduring political journey. 

From 2002 to 2008, Abu Azmi served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, representing Uttar Pradesh. This tenure allowed him to influence national policies and advocate for issues pertinent to his constituents. 

In 2009, Abu Azmi contested the Maharashtra Assembly elections from two constituencies: Mankhurd-Shivaji Nagar and Bhiwandi (East). Remarkably, he won both seats but chose to represent Mankhurd-Shivaji Nagar, a constituency he has successfully retained in subsequent elections.
